Once there was a time when the earth was a place of spectacle and wonder! A time when a great and mighty civilization lay spread across the entire surface of globe, extending itself to all corners of the earth, far below the sea, and even into the vastness of outer space.  A time when the human race, with the help of some remarkable power by which they could cut and raise enormous blocks of stone, created vast astronomical instruments, circles of erect pillars, pyramids, underground tunnels, cyclopean stone platforms...all linked together by a network of tracks and alignments, whose course from horizon to horizon was marked by stones, mounds, and earthworks.  A time, too, when the titanic forces of Nature and the Human Ego clashed together with a fury that overwhelmed the imagination.
