Atlantis as Myth
To a great extent, I believe, myself and other creative artists with vision are at the
beginning of an effort to address the needs of modern audiences.
How successful we are will depend, to a large extend, on how well our
stories interweave many of the essential elements of all good stories, as exemplified in Atlantis...
- The Conflict Between Good and Evil
- The Shootout at the OK Corral
- The Damsel in Distress
- The Heroic Journey
Only now, in Atlantis, in order to meet Campbell's and Csikzenmihalyi's criteria for success...
- The characters and events are not limited to their specific roles in space and time, they are archetypal,
timeless, larger-than-life, becoming Everyman and Everywoman;
- The final conflict affects not only the local community, but the entire global village;
- The Heroic journey is not one that only superheroes can undertake with impunity, rather it is a journey
we can all relate to because we are taking it ourselves in our everyday lives;
- And the damsel in distress is not a poor maiden carried off by ne'er-do-wells, she is Mother Earth herself!
